A Month of Magical Sightings: The Big 5 and Cheetah Cubs at Nambiti!
New Year, New Adventures! January has set the tone for an exciting year ahead. In fact, the Nambiti Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal is looking absolutely breathtaking. The landscape is lush and green, thanks to generous summer rains. Specifically, January’s rainfall in the south was recorded at 140mm. As a result, the mix of hot, sunny days and cooler, overcast weather has made for an exceptional start to the year.

Sightings in January were nothing short of spectacular! The highlight has been the increased sightings of our female cheetah and her cubs – a truly special moment for guides and guests alike. Watching them navigate the reserve and learn the ways of the wild has been an absolute privilege.

Other standout sightings include magnificent encounters with the Big 5: lions hunting, marking their territories, and two lions from the Southern Pride seen mating on multiple occasions. Elephants have been enjoying the abundance of water, while buffalo have been spotted wallowing in the mud or roaming across the reserve. On top of that, we’ve had rare and unforgettable sightings of a caracal with her cubs and even a serval! These elusive cats are seldom seen, making each glimpse even more exciting.
