Safari Packing Guide
From Binoculars to Bush Hats – We have created a list for you!
Dress the part:
- Bring your comfortable safari-style clothing — think breathable, relaxed fits in earthy, neutral tones.
- Avoid neon or bright colours — they tend to stand out in the wild.
- Layering is essential for shifting temperatures throughout the day.
Seasonal tips:
- Summer (Nov–Mar): Pack for warm days — shorts, t-shirts, light long sleeves, and a wide-brimmed hat. But also include a light jacket or rainproof layer, as the weather can be hot one moment and stormy the next.
- Winter (Apr–Oct): Mornings and evenings can get cold. Pack a warm jacket, scarf, beanie, and gloves, along with lighter layers for midday warmth.
Footwear:
- Closed shoes or trainers for game drives and our camp walk.
- Flip-flops or sandals for lounging at the lodge and poolside.
Extras worth packing:
- Swimsuit (yes, even in winter — you may still want to take a dip!)
- Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sun hat
- Binoculars, camera gear, extra batteries, and memory cards
- Reusable water bottle — we have a refill station at the lodge
- Personal toiletries and medications
- Insect repellent
- Lightweight flashlight
Good to Know:
- Electricity is 220v and uses standard South African 3-pin plugs.
- The lodge is situated in a malaria-free zone — no need for malaria prophylactics.
- Wifi is available throughout the lodge and in your tent – as we are remote it may be intermittent at times.
- Bring your own reusable water bottle to help us reduce plastic use. We have a refilling station by the bar – one of our friendly team members will gladly assist you.
- The reserve gate closes at a set time; late arrivals must be arranged in advance.
- Remember to inform us ahead of time if you have special dietary needs or mobility concerns.
- Our curio shop has emergency supplies such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, sunscreen, lip ice etc.
