Rain, Rivers, and Remarkable Sightings!
February in the bush has been nothing short of spectacular! Despite significant rainfall—totaling 148mm for the month—the landscape remains lush and teeming with life. The Sundays River roared with intensity, enhancing the breathtaking views and the tranquil sounds of flowing water across Nambiti Private Game Reserve, KZN. Even with the rain, wildlife sightings were nothing short of extraordinary, making for an unforgettable month at The Springbok Lodge.


Incredible Predator Sightings
This month, the Southern Pride kept guests and guides on their toes with frequent sightings near the lodge. On multiple occasions, guests were fortunate enough to witness thrilling predator action, including both cheetah and lions on kills.
Big Five Close to the Lodge
One of the standout moments this February was the sheer abundance of Big Five sightings right near the lodge. Guests were treated to encounters with:
- The Southern Lions, often spotted in close proximity
- The breeding herd of elephants and several impressive elephant bulls
- The large herd of buffalo, adding to the wild spectacle

A Leopard Sighting
One of the most thrilling moments of the month belonged to Ranger Nokwanda, who, along with her guests, had an encounter with a leopard! They spent about three exhilarating minutes observing a powerful male leopard in the southern part of the reserve before he gracefully wandered off into the bush. Nokwanda described him as a big muscular tom—a sighting that will remain etched in memory!
