July has been our best month of the year so far!

July has been the best month of the year so far at The Springbok Lodge! The bush came alive with unforgettable moments — from the infamous leopard sighting that had everyone talking, to our guides levelling up their skills with advanced 4×4 training. We wrapped up the month on a high, celebrating the incredible work of our team and all rangers on World Ranger Day.

Wildlife Sightings:

The highlight of the month was a true Nat Geo moment — watching the Southern Pride hot on the tail of a leopard! Our guests were on the edge of their seats as the drama unfolded. We’ve also been treated to incredible lion action, from thrilling hunts to feeding at kills. Cheetah sightings have been just as memorable — from the charismatic “cheetah boys” scent-marking one of our game viewers and playfully reinforcing their bond, to the adorable cubbies thriving and showing off their cuteness in all its glory. Another special moment was watching a male giraffe work up the courage to drink. It took him some time to feel safe enough to bend down, but with patience, we sat quietly with our guests until he finally lowered his head — a simple yet magical sight.

Guiding Team Update:

This month, our guiding team had the pleasure of upskilling with professional 4×4 training — two full days filled with fun, laughter, and valuable learning! From mastering the rocky sections of Nambiti’s terrain to navigating muddy tracks and tackling steep inclines, our expert guides sharpened their skills to ensure every game drive is as safe, smooth, and adventurous as possible.

World Ranger Day:

On 31 July, we joined the global celebration of World Ranger Day. We are truly grateful for our incredible Anti-Poaching Unit, whose dedication, bravery, and tireless efforts help protect the wildlife and wild spaces we call home. Their commitment to conservation is nothing short of inspiring.
