November Blog Post: Wildlife, Baby Season & Summer Feels

November at Springbok Lodge was a lively month in the lead-up to the festive season. As the year began to wind down, the lodge hosted several end-of-year functions, relaxed lunches by the river, and a number of special gatherings. It was a month shaped by good weather, good company, and a steady build-up to the holidays.

Wildlife Sightings

November brought a wide range of wildlife activity across the reserve. Elephants were frequent visitors in the South and often moved close to the lodge. The cheetah brothers were seen several times as they walked past vehicles, scent-marking along the way. Lions and buffalo also appeared regularly throughout the month.

We enjoyed notable sightings of mountain reedbuck and eland in open areas. It was a rare and memorable moment to hear the distinct clicking sound of their hooves as they moved.

This month also marked the start of baby season. Young impala gathered in their small nursery groups, and the first wildebeest calves were spotted across the reserve.

Lodge Update
November was a productive month at the lodge. We hosted several year-end functions and group bookings, and we enjoyed a number of beautifully set lunches down by the river. The team also spent a weekend representing Springbok Lodge at The Great Outdoor Expo in Durban.

We were thrilled to enjoy cheetah sightings right in front of the lodge again — always a highlight for guests and staff.

November set a strong tone for the season at Springbok Lodge. With active wildlife, meaningful guest experiences, and a full calendar both at the lodge and beyond, it was a month that captured the best of this time of year. As we move into December, we look forward to welcoming guests for the holidays and sharing more of what makes this place so special.
